Let’s see. Planar Evil comes form Italy and “Land Of Doom” is their first official demo recording done back in 2002. The musical direction of the band is mostly thrash metal with some more heavy and rock ‘n’ roll moments (the middle part of “land Of Doom” for example). The demo was recorded at the “Temple Of Noise” studio, they have nothing to do with “Temple Of Metal” (OK that was irrelevant - xexe).
Sadly for Planar Evil their work sounded a bit boring in my ears. The reasons are many. First of all the lousy vocals. I know that thrash metal isn’t actually the place for a vocalist to prove his skill but Mark must really work in order to sound like he’s singing. Totally flat. Another problem is the luck of smart / interesting compositions. Without being clones the guys play nothing new and of course this is a good reason for you not to listen their work.
Another problem is that the songs are too lengthy, all of them above five minutes, and when you have lengthy songs you have to make sure you don’t constantly play the same thing. In the end the only good thing on this demo was the fine production of professional standards.
